I’m a huge Britney fan and this video (to one of my favorite songs of hers) made me feel the exact same way. I could go on, but I’m supposed to be working right now. Ironically on a study of children and privacy.

I’m in a CRAPPY mood right now because someone stole my debit card # and racked up $1200 in charges at Radio Shack, Bose, 6pm.com, some church (?!) and Dell. Therefore I am focusing instead on things I like: baby animals, pop singers, miniature gadgets, fabulosity, and these rococo nails.

After an unbelievably kick-ass Saturday and Sunday birthday weekend, today has sucked ass from beginning to end, and it’s only 5:30. Example: I’m being sent to collections for a $400 Con-Ed bill that my ex-roommate and her new roommate ran up in my name. And that’s not even the worst of today. Taking my ass home to sulk. This is one of those days when I wish I hadn’t given up broadcast television in favor of torrents four years ago, because I could really use an evening of Gossip Girl + Greek right about now. Cookies will have to suffice.

Let’s say a woman directs a movie that’s not very good—everybody piles up on her. It’s, like, “No! You’re representing us! It has to be perfect!” And that’s not how it works! Women should be allowed to make bad movies. Good movies. Porno movies. Terrible made-for-TV movies. Women just need to be out there directing as many movies as men do. Obama confirmed that abortions would not be covered in his healthcare plan. He wanted to give healthcare workers the opportunity to utilize their conscience. Can you imagine the President announcing that a medical procedure for men, that was perfectly legal, would not be covered under health care? Can there be anymore proof of the fact that women’s lives are devalued by patriarchy? This further punishes poor women for being impoverished and having sex.

This so-called moral clause is nothing but patriarchy exercising its control over women’s bodies. The conservatives may not have been able to overturn Roe vs Wade, however; they have made great strides in reducing access to the point that in some areas women are completely unable to procure an abortion, or they must go through extreme measures. Obama claims to support a woman’s right to choose, however; by not including abortion coverage, he is assuring that some will not have that right. This is a centrist in action. You cannot stand for good and for change, when you are pandering to the right wing, which seeks only to maintain the status quo. (womanist musings)

Nine women have been rescued after being tricked into believing they were reality show contestants, Turkish military police said Thursday.

The women were freed on Monday from a villa in Riva, a summer resort on the outskirts of Istanbul, a spokesman for the military police in the region who carried out the raid told The Associated Press.

The women were made to believe they were being filmed for a Big Brother-type television show, the private Dogan news agency and other news reports said, without citing sources. Instead, their naked images were sold on the Internet, the reports said.

I’m really proud (well, I’m always proud so let’s just say more proud than usual) of my main man Harryh, who has been working his ass off on foursquare stuff for weeks, but especially this weekend, when he powered through an undergrad-style marathon session. If you use Foursquare and see him out and about this week, buy him a Johnnie Walker Black or a Sapphire and tonic or a Brooklyn Lager.

I am pretty chill about SaTC outfits because ridiculosity is part of that show, and the fabulosity is frequent enough that it doesn’t bother me when Carrie is wearing a fannypack with a backless leotard or a giant gold pretzel necklace (which I covet). But this bothers me because it is way too close to what all the hipster girls in my neighborhood already wear and I think it’s eerily prescient. I’m not sure if I can handle the Bette Midler/Flashdance (although I am pretty sure I already wore Flashdance retro when I was really into electroclash in 2002-2003) look as interpreted by Vince and American Apparel.
