so better than ezra is playing next month & i kind of want to go see them.

spangley:

does that make me a lame person? hmmmm, don’t answer that.

i think there are a handful of bands that i liked in high school that i was too young to go see on my own whilst they were popular (plus, no one comes to play marietta, ohio - except marky mark & the funky bunch. and c&c music factory. you KNOW i was at those shows.) so now i’m all nostaglic for my sixteen year old days of driving to crew practice in kristin neinhuis’s big blue boat of a car, listening to mixtapes populated by mid-90s MOR alt rock.

i also kind of want to see toad the wet sprocket. i loved them! i am slowly realizing that these tours are geared at my demo. which means i am officially 30.

My thought process at both Liz Phair’s Exile tour and Built to Spill doing Perfect From Now On at ATP NYC last year (both of which I was lucky enough to see) was like this:

Me: OMG ! OMG ! I am so excited! My favorite albums from when I was 19 and 21 respectively [OK that’s a lie my favorite BTS album is either the Normal Years or Ultimate Alternative Wavers, and my favorite song is Carry the Zero, WHICH THEY PLAYED, along with freaking Joyride and Twin Falls Idaho, which killed me].

(thinks)

Me: OMG, that was 13 and 11 years ago respectively and I am now old enough that my favorite bands that are still my favorite bands are now nostalgia bands.

(It’s true, I’m not 25 any more)

Still, I have a wishlist reunion tour: Bikini Kill, Bratmobile, Sleater-Kinney, throw in Cold Cold Hearts for good measure; and then Jawbreaker. I still can’t believe I missed Team Dresch.
